Artist Statement
I'm Rosemary Moore. I was born in Cape Town on the 31St of December 1968. 1 have always loved drawing and painting. I also enjoy the outdoors and travelling in South Africa.
My husband, children and I moved to Darling on the Westcoast in February 2006. We really enjoy living here. It is peaceful in the valley, surrounded by vineyards and farms.
I took oil painting lessons in May 2007 with a local artist. I enjoy painting all types of subjects, especially beach scenes. On the 23rd of November 2008, 1 went to an art exhibition by one of our local artists and discovered Bob Dylan. Elmie's friend gave a speech and she said "I love Bob Dylan". She was referring to the background music which Elmie played. I researched about Bob Dylan and became so inspired by him that I decided to have my first solo art exhibition as a tribute to him. I painted 44 oil paintings, which were portraits and my interpretation of some of his songs. The exhibition was held on the 23rd of May 2009 at the Darling Art Gallery in Darling. I painted one painting especially for Bob Dylan.
My favourite South African musician is Nicolaas Van Den Bergh who sounds like a combination of Bob Dylan, Chris Rea and Joe Cocker. He is also a painter.(www.nicolaasart.com).
Some of the people who have one of my paintings are:- Helen Zille, Marc Lottering, David Kramer, Pieter Dirk Uys and Lionel Ritchie (USA).
Some of my work can be viewed at Meerots, Restaurant, Yzerfontein, De Stal, Yzerfontein and Quensh in Observatory.
I hope that you will enjoy my work. |
